Our local sources have reported a series of disturbing events in the Oromia region of Ethiopia.

On June 6, 2025, a young man named Ayana Latta was reportedly executed by the Ethiopian Imperial Forces in the Sasiga district of East Wollega. According to reports, Latta was forcibly taken from his home and shot dead on the spot. Latta's case is not an isolated incident. Sources indicate that he had been arrested multiple times on fabricated charges such as "collaborating with the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA)" or "being a member" of the same. After enduring severe torture in detention centers, he was subsequently released, only to be re-arrested and publicly executed in front of his community. This incident is seen as a part of the Prosperity Party’s (PP) ongoing campaign against the OLA, which has been fighting for the freedom and social justice of the Oromo people. Despite the continuous repression, sources confirm that the struggle continues to progress despite all attempts at brutal suppression.

In a separate development on June 10, 2025, two soldiers from the Prosperity Party, hailing from the Wadara district in East Guji, reportedly surrendered themselves and their weapons to the OLA. They were stationed in the Qandi Ola Olu village and decided to join the OLA with all their military gear. The equipment seized included two AKM rifles, other weapons, and a significant amount of ammunition, which have subsequently been repurposed for the liberation struggle of the Oromo people. The former soldiers expressed their gratitude for the warm reception from the OLA and asked for forgiveness for their past service under the "fascist PP regime." They also urged their former colleagues still serving the regime to cease their inhumane service and join the OLA with their weapons for the liberation of their people. Reports also indicate that OLA's attacks against the Ethiopian Imperial Army have resulted in significant casualties, including deaths, injuries, and captures. Those who survive are reportedly beginning to recognize the regime's animosity towards the Oromo people and are increasingly joining the OLA from various parts of Oromia. These events mark a volatile period in the Oromia region, with escalating tensions and ongoing struggles for freedom and justice. The situation continues to develop, and we will continue to bring you updates as they become available.
